Renault's best-selling subcompact hatchback, the Clio, receives a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year. This significant update aims to keep the Clio competitive against rivals like the Volkswagen Polo, Skoda Fabia, and SEAT Ibiza in the ever-popular subcompact segment.
A Bold New Design Language
The most striking change for the 2024 Clio is its completely redesigned front fascia. Renault has opted for a more modern and aggressive look with slimmer headlights flanking a wider grille. The grille features a unique checkerboard pattern that subtly nods to the Renault logo. Adding a touch of whimsy are the new daytime running lights, which are shaped like half of an upright rhombus.
At the rear, Renault breaks the recent trend of darkened taillights by reintroducing clear taillights for the 2024 Clio. A sporty diffuser flanks these taillights, and depending on the chosen trim level and powertrain, buyers can even opt for one of six different diffuser designs.
A Focus on Sustainability in the 2024 Clio
The interior of the 2024 Clio carries over the basic layout from the previous model, but some key updates prioritize sustainability. Renault has consciously tried to reduce its environmental impact by using more sustainable materials throughout the cabin. For example, leather upholstery is no longer available, and the seats are now upholstered in a material called TEP. This innovative material is made from organic and recycled polyester fibers, offering a comfortable and stylish alternative to traditional leather.
The dashboard features a new digital instrument cluster that can be had in either a 7-inch or a 10-inch display, depending on the chosen trim level. The infotainment system also receives an upgrade, with a touchscreen that comes in either 7-inch or 9.3-inch configurations. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included for seamless smartphone integration.
