Skoda has unveiled the first images of its upcoming electric vehicle, the Elroq, still in camouflage but showcasing its promising potential. As the latest addition to Skoda’s electric lineup, the Elroq is set to make its world premiere in October, with orders opening soon after. This new model stands out not only for its innovative design but also for its impressive specifications, marking a significant step forward in Skoda’s electric vehicle (EV) journey.
Built on a Solid Foundation: The MEB Platform
The 2025 Skoda Elroq is constructed on the versatile MEB platform, which it shares with its larger sibling, the Skoda Enyaq. This platform has proven itself as a robust foundation for electric vehicles, ensuring both performance and reliability. The Elroq will be available in four powertrain options: 50, 60, 85, and 85x, catering to a wide range of preferences and driving needs.
The Elroq 50 is equipped with an electric motor on the rear axle, delivering 170 hp (125 kW) and a 55 kWh battery (52 kWh net). The Elroq 60 steps up the power with 204 hp (150 kW) and a 63 kWh battery (59 kWh net). Both models boast a top speed of 160 km/h, providing a balanced mix of efficiency and performance.
Power and Range: The 85 and 85x Models
For those seeking more power and range, the Elroq 85 and 85x are the top-tier options. These models come with an 82 kWh battery (77 kWh net) and offer 286 hp (210 kW) and 299 hp (220 kW) respectively. The 85x variant also features an additional electric motor on the front axle, providing four-wheel drive capabilities. Both models reach a top speed of 180 km/h and offer a remarkable range of over 560 km on a full charge, making them ideal for long-distance journeys.
Efficient Charging and Practical Storage
Charging efficiency is a highlight of the Elroq, with all models capable of both AC (11 kW) and DC fast charging. The Elroq 85 and 85x can charge at up to 175 kW, enabling a 10 to 80 percent charge in approximately 28 minutes. This ensures minimal downtime and maximizes convenience for users.
Despite being 15 cm shorter than the Enyaq, the Elroq offers ample space for passengers and luggage. The boot provides 470 liters of storage, which expands to 1,580 liters with the rear seats folded down. Additionally, Skoda has included 48 liters of practical storage space throughout the cabin, maintaining their reputation for smart, user-friendly design.
Aerodynamic and Stylish Design
The Elroq's design is both functional and stylish, featuring a slightly sloping roofline ending in a roof spoiler. This contributes to the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency, achieving a drag coefficient of just 0.26. The wheels, ranging from 19” to 21”, are also aerodynamically optimized.
